  • Browns sign former Patriots TE Watson (AP)

    The Cleveland Browns filled a gaping offensive hole, signing free agent tight end Ben Watson to a multiyear contract. Watson spent the past six seasons with the New England Patriots, where he previously worked with Browns coach Eric Mangini and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. The Browns did not release financial terms.

  • RB Tomlinson meets with Jets (AP)

    LaDainian Tomlinson is at the New York Jets' training facility in Florham Park, N.J., meeting with team officials about joining the offense that ranked No. 1 in rushing last season. Tomlinson's visit Friday comes a day after meeting with the Minnesota Vikings and leaving without a deal. He arrived in the New York area Thursday night.

  • Bengals sign WR Bryant to 4-year deal (AP)

    Wide receiver Antonio Bryant has signed a four-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals announced adding the 29-year-old eighth-year pro on Friday. The University of Pittsburgh product had career highs in 2008 with 83 catches for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns for Tampa Bay. After recovering from surgery for torn cartilage in his left knee last year, Bryant had 39 catches for 600 yards...

  • Pro Football Hall of Famer Olsen dies (AP)

    This 1970 handout provided by NFL Photos, shows Los Angeles Rams football player Merlin Olsen. Olsen, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and former television actor,  died Wednesday night, March 10, 2010, at a Los Angeles hospital. He was 69.

    Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen, who helped form one of the NFL's greatest defensive lines before embarking on a successful career in television, died Thursday after a battle with cancer. He was 69. Olsen was a member of the Los Angeles Rams' "Fearsome Foursome" along with Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy and Rosey Grier in the 1960s.


  • Cut by Panthers, Delhomme visits Browns (AP)

    The Cleveland Browns spent another day looking for a new quarterback by meeting with an older one. Free agent Jake Delhomme, released last week after seven seasons with the Carolina Panthers, visited Thursday with the perpetually rebuilding Browns, who have been busy this week trying to improve their unstable situation at QB.

  • Baskett rejoins Eagles with 1-year deal (AP)

    The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free agent wide receiver Hank Baskett to a one-year contract. Baskett was released by the Eagles last September after three seasons in Philadelphia. He then signed with Indianapolis and played 15 games, including playoffs. Baskett had 71 catches for 1,046 yards and six touchdowns in 47 games with the Eagles.

  • LBs Porter, Foote visit Cardinals (AP)

    The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed offensive tackle Jeremy Bridges to a three-year contract and, in what could portend a far more significant development, welcomed free agent linebackers Joey Porter and Larry Foote for a visit. Quarterback Derek Anderson, released by the Cleveland Browns this week, is scheduled to be in Tempe to meet with the Cardinals on Friday.

  • Guilty verdict in Darrent Williams trial (AP)

    FILE - This April 24, 2005,  file photo shows Darrent Williams smiling as he holds a Denver Broncos' jersey bearing his name during a  news conference at the team's headquarters in Denver. Jurors have reached a verdict in the trial of a man charged with murdering Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams. The decision was expected to be read in court shortly. Defendant Willie Clark was taken to the courtroom Thursday, March 11, 2010,  to hear the decision.

    The group of Denver Broncos players arrived at the Safari nightclub to celebrate New Year's Eve and was whisked inside by bouncers. One of the dozens of people waiting in line to get in -- an alleged Tre-Tre Crips gang member -- took exception. "We street," Willie Clark told wide receiver Brandon Marshall, according to court testimony.


  • Titans agree to terms with CB Hood (AP)

    The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with cornerback Rod Hood, an unrestricted free agent. Hood, heading toward his eighth NFL season, made four starts for the Titans in 2009. He had 18 tackles and tied for second on the team with three interceptions after being signed as a free agent in October.

  • Bengals re-sign DT Johnson for 4 years (AP)

    Defensive tackle Tank Johnson has signed a four-year deal to stay with the Cincinnati Bengals. Johnson started 13 games last season despite a case of plantar faciitis in his right foot that limited his mobility and caused a lot of pain. He felt better as the season went along, and tied for the team lead with 10 tackles in a playoff loss to the Jets.
